Are you ready to ROCK the 2025 Season?
Add your name and availability to the 2025 Season Calendar. We have a schedule added! (3/31/25)
Know that I plan to look into a practice on the Monday before the season starts, likely Monday April 28, but I will need some helpers to run the practice as I will be on a cruise ship.
If your jersey needs a new logo, I have some available
Get your bat tested at the Delta Township office 7710 West Saginaw Hwy Lansing MI 48917
Sign up for an account with Delta Township and register in the DNR/DEQ/SOM league. They don't have yellow cards anymore, 2025 is all online/or by phone:
If anyone has trouble registering, you can call 323-8555 and Mark at Delta Twp will help do it over the phone with you. The is no player fee with registration, so that will be zero. Make sure you don’t check yourself as team manager. Look for my name Jeff Schmidt and Rock Sox as the team name.

SOM Softball Rules
Fielding 101
We play with 10 players in the field.
A team must have at least 9 players to begin and continue a game
There can be a maximum of 6 players of any one gender on the defense at any one time.
The league has no requirement pertaining to defensive alignment of male and female players
There is a 15-run mercy rule after 5 innings, 10 runs after 6 innings
Batting 101
Each batter will begin an at bat with a count of 1 ball and 1 strike and have one grace for a fouled third strike.
The batting order must alternate male/female throughout.
The 12-inch softball for male batters and the 11-inch softball for female batters.
All bats must be tested annually by Delta Township. Only bats that pass their test and have the current years approval sticker can be used in league play. All bats should have ASA or USA logo on them.
If a male batter is given a walk, that male batter goes to 2nd base.
If there are 2 outs in the inning the next batter, a female, has her choice of walking (going to 1st base) or hitting. NOTE: It is each individual female player’s choice whether they wish to walk or bat, not the managers. The managers should not influence their player’s decision.
If there are less than 2 outs, the female batter MUST bat.
If a female batter is given a walk that female batter goes to first base and the next batter, a male, must always bat. This rule applies no matter how many outs there are in the inning.
